Schurz is a census-designated place (CDP) in southern Mineral County, Nevada, located at the junction of U.S. Route 95 and U.S. Route 95A. As of the 2020 Census, the population of Schurz was approximately 800 residents.[1]

Schurz is located within the **Walker River Indian Reservation** and is home to the **Walker River Paiute Tribe**. The town is named after Carl Schurz, U.S. Secretary of the Interior in the 1870s. The community plays a central role in tribal governance, culture, and education, and is also a regional stopover for travelers between Hawthorne and Fallon.[2]
