Elko
Elko is a city in northeastern Nevada and serves as the county seat of Elko County. Located along the Humboldt River and Interstate 80, Elko is the largest city in northeastern Nevada and a major hub for mining, ranching, and outdoor recreation. As of the 2020 Census, Elko had a population of approximately 20,500.[1]
Founded in 1868 as a stop along the Central Pacific Railroad, Elko quickly became a base for livestock and mining operations. Today, it maintains its identity as a Western town with a strong Basque heritage, a vibrant arts community, and some of Nevada’s most beautiful high country nearby.[2]
