White Pine County is located in eastern Nevada, bordering Utah, and is known for its dramatic mountain landscapes, mining history, and outdoor recreation. As of the 2020 Census, the population was just under 10,000.[1]

The county was established in 1869 and named after the white pine trees found in the region. Ely, the county seat and largest city, began as a stagecoach stop and mining town and today serves as a regional hub for eastern Nevada.[2]

White Pine County is home to **Great Basin National Park**, the state’s only national park, as well as historic railroads, alpine hiking, and high desert basins. The local economy includes **tourism**, **mining**, **public lands management**, and **renewable energy development**.

Communities like McGill, Baker, and Lund reflect the county’s cultural heritage and rural character, while offering access to vast public lands and conservation areas.
