Pershing County is located in northwestern Nevada and was established in 1919 from a portion of Humboldt County. It is named after General John J. Pershing, commander of U.S. forces during World War I. As of the 2020 Census, the population of the county was approximately 6,650 people.[1]

The county seat and only incorporated city is Lovelock, which lies along Interstate 80 and the Union Pacific Railroad, making it a key hub for transportation and agriculture. Pershing County is known for its wide-open landscapes and high desert terrain, much of which is public land.

It is also home to **Rye Patch State Recreation Area**, **Unionville** (a historic mining site where Mark Twain once lived), and part of the **Black Rock Desert**, where the annual Burning Man festival is held just across the county line.[2]

The local economy includes **agriculture**, **corrections**, **mining**, and **rail freight logistics**.
