Nevada is home to a number of federally recognized Native American tribes, each with its own cultural traditions, government structure, and land base. These communities have shaped the state's history and continue to play a central role in its future—from land stewardship and water rights to economic development and education.

Northern Paiute Tribes
- Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe – Based in Nixon
- Walker River Paiute Tribe – Based in Schurz
- Lovelock Paiute Tribe – Based in Lovelock
- Reno-Sparks Indian Colony – Based in Reno and Hungry Valley
- Winnemucca Indian Colony – Based in Winnemucca
- Summit Lake Paiute Tribe – Northern Humboldt County
- Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of the Fallon Reservation and Colony – Fallon area
- Battle Mountain Band – Subgroup of Te-Moak Tribe
Western Shoshone Tribes
- Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians – Based in Elko with several bands:

- Duckwater Shoshone Tribe – Central Nevada

Southern Paiute Tribes
- Las Vegas Paiute Tribe – Based in Las Vegas and Snow Mountain
- Moapa Band of Paiute Indians – Moapa River Reservation
Washoe Tribe
- Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California – Tribal headquarters in Gardnerville; lands in Nevada and California
Inter-Tribal Organizations and Colonies
- Reno-Sparks Indian Colony – Multi-tribal, includes Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe members
- Elko Indian Colony – Shared governance with Te-Moak and other bands
- Fort McDermitt Paiute and Shoshone Tribe – On the Nevada-Oregon border
