Nearby Communities

Walker Lake is a small, unincorporated lakeside community and census-designated place (CDP) in central Mineral County, Nevada. Located along U.S. Route 95 about 10 miles north of Hawthorne, the community lies on the western shore of Walker Lake, a natural desert lake surrounded by dramatic basin-and-range terrain. As of the 2020 Census, the community had a population of approximately 250 residents.[1]

The area is best known for its lake-based recreation and peaceful desert scenery. While water levels have declined over the past century due to upstream diversion, Walker Lake remains a destination for birdwatching, camping, kayaking, and scenic driving.[2]
