These guidelines outline how content on Nevada Wiki should be written, formatted, and maintained. They exist to ensure that Nevada Wiki remains a trusted, neutral, and well-organized resource for all readers.
Purpose of These Guidelines

What Content is Acceptable
Nevada Wiki is a reference for:

- Government and public services
- Tribal nations and Indigenous history
- Transportation and infrastructure
- Environmental issues and natural resources
- Cities, counties, and rural communities
- Laws, elections, and notable public figures
- Arts, events, festivals, and local traditions
Content must be **relevant to Nevada** â articles not tied to the stateâs land, people, or systems may be removed or merged.
What Content is Not Appropriate
- **Advertising or promotion** of businesses or individuals
- **Personal essays or blog-style writing**
- **Unverified claims, conspiracy theories, or rumors**
- **Invasive personal details** of living people
- **Hate speech or discriminatory content**
- **Content unrelated to Nevada or its communities**

Sources and Citations
Articles should be based on **reliable, verifiable sources**, especially when:
- Making factual claims about people, laws, or events
- Writing about living individuals
- Covering controversial topics
Acceptable sources include:

- Local and regional news outlets
- Books or reputable documentaries
- Tribal archives or press releases

Coverage of Living People
Be especially cautious when writing about living individuals. Articles must:
- Be **neutral and factual**
- Avoid unsourced criticism
- Not include personal contact info or speculation
Biographies should only exist for **notable people** (e.g., public officials, community leaders, or widely covered figures).
Neutrality and Balance
All content should be:
- **Written from a neutral point of view (NPOV)**
- Avoid loaded or emotional language
- Present multiple sides of an issue when relevant
- Attribute opinions or interpretations to specific sources
Example: â âThe proposed law was supported by X and opposed by Y.â â âThe law was obviously unfair and unpopular.â
