Humboldt County is located in the northwestern part of Nevada, bordered by Oregon to the north. It is the oldest county in the state and was established in 1856 when Nevada was still part of the Utah Territory. As of the 2020 Census, Humboldt County had a population of just over 17,000 people.[1]
The county seat is Winnemucca, a regional hub for ranching, mining, and transportation. Humboldt County lies along the Interstate 80 corridor and serves as a critical link for logistics and freight across northern Nevada.[2]
Major industries include **gold mining**, **agriculture**, and **renewable energy**. Humboldt County is also home to parts of the **Black Rock Desert**, the location of the annual Burning Man event near Gerlach, which straddles Humboldt and neighboring counties.
