Churchill County
Churchill County is a rural county in western Nevada, known for its strong agricultural roots, military presence, and geothermal development. As of the 2020 census, the population was just over 25,000, with most residents living in or near Fallon, the county seat.[1]
The county was established in 1861 and named after Mexican-American War hero Sylvester Churchill. Today, it's a hub for **dairy farming**, **alfalfa production**, and **military aviation**, thanks to the presence of Naval Air Station Fallon—home to the Navy’s elite TOPGUN training program.[2]
Churchill County also hosts key natural and ecological areas, including the Lahontan Reservoir and Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge, attracting birders, kayakers, and off-grid adventurers alike.
