Eureka County
- Eureka – Unincorporated (County Seat)
- Crescent Valley – Unincorporated
- Beowawe – Unincorporated
Eureka County is a sparsely populated county in north-central Nevada, known for its rich mining history, wide-open landscapes, and tight-knit rural communities. As of the 2020 Census, the county had a population of approximately 1,800, making it one of the least populous in the state.[1]
Established in 1873, Eureka County was carved out of Lander County during Nevada’s mining boom. The town of Eureka—sometimes called the “Friendliest Town on the Loneliest Road”—is the county seat and retains many historic buildings from its 19th-century silver rush days.[2]
Today, the economy is primarily supported by **mining**, **ranching**, and **public lands management**. Crescent Valley and Beowawe are key communities near major mining operations, including gold and geothermal projects.
