On this day in 1988, the PEPCON plant in Henderson exploded, sending shockwaves across the Las Vegas Valley. The disaster killed two, injured hundreds, and reshaped industrial safety in Nevada. May 4 also marks the finale of the Home + History Las Vegas festival, celebrating Southern Nevada’s rich architectural legacy.
